Local Publisher's Anthology Supports
SoCal Wildfire Recovery Fund
(Temecula, CA) On August 22, 2025, No Bad Books Press, a local Temecula-based publisher, will release Dread Coast, a new charity anthology dedicated to supporting wildfire recovery efforts across Southern California. Proceeds of this compelling collection will be directly donated to the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund, which has already provided millions to disaster relief in Southern California.
The devastating wildfires that have repeatedly swept through Southern California, including the Palisades and Eaton Fires, have impacted and displaced tens of thousands of residents, leaving a profound mark on communities and individuals, including anthology publisher, Theresa Halvorsen. “…this was personal to me as my Grandmother-in-law had significant damage to her home and a friend's parents lost their home entirely. My mother-in-law's childhood home was completely destroyed. Like so many, I wanted to help and a charity anthology was an amazing opportunity to do so,” Halvorsen said, owner of No Bad Books Press.
Dread Coast is the creation of editors Dennis K. Crosby and KC Grifant. They contacted Southern California horror authors to gauge interest in a project supporting recovery efforts for the Easton and Palisades fires, and the response from speculative authors across Los Angeles, San Diego, and the Inland Empire was immediate and enthusiastic. Many in the SoCal writing community have been affected by recent wildfires and were willing to donate their creative talent for a good cause. Dread Coast will feature twenty-four writers, including New York Times bestselling authors Peter Clines, Jonathan Maberry, and Scott Sigler, and USA Today bestselling author Luke Dumas. Dread Coast is now available for pre-sale on Amazon and will be available in e-book, trade paperback, and audio.
